Announcement from Mr. Guy Caballero

Announcer: "And now an urgent and important message from the President and Owner of SCTV and Caballero Satellite Systems, Mr. Guy Caballero! Come in GUY.... !
Mr. Guy Caballero:
Good evening Ladies and Gentleman... my name is Guy Caballero, President and Owner of SCTV, and don't you ever forget it!
I'm here today to talk about the situation with SCTV on DVD. Now, some smart cookie at Shout! Factory decided to pick up our programming and release it on DVD. And to them I say a hearty thanks! The trouble now is that some of the copyright holders just don't know how much SCTV relies on their music and contributions. We want them to know that the use of their music on SCTV is positive, profitable and worthwhile! They would be making a wonderful contribution to SCTV and it's fans all around the world!
SCTV needs your help. So grab that pen and paper and start writing and let those copyright holders know that allowing their music on SCTV is good for everyone. We really need your support so that we can continue to bring you the same high quality programming that you were used to seeing on SCTV before.
So, write those letters and if you look a little bit lower on this page, you can see some sample letters that have been put together for your convenience. Or better yet, you may want to write your own letters to the copyright holders. For all of you webmasters out there who are running your own SCTV sites, I would encourage you to take part and support this very worthwhile campaign. All we need to do is to chip in to keep SCTV going strong. This is Guy Caballero signing off for SCTV. Good night and God bless!
Announcer: That was an urgent and important message from the President and Owner of SCTV and Caballero Satellite Systems... Mr Guy Caballero!
Guy: You're darn tootin'!
The above message from Guy Caballero is a complete work of fiction, although if Mr. Caballero were still in business today, this is probably what he would say. If Mr. Flaherty does not appreciate the humor of this message, I will certainly remove it.

Dear Sir/Madam:
As a fan of the Classic Canadian television series SCTV, I just want say how happy I was that SCTV was finally being released on DVD. I was finally going to be able to watch SCTV on DVD complete and uncut. Little did I know that after the fourth and fifth seasons would be released, the next set to be released is only going to be a simple best of collection.
I am writing to you to ask that the remaining seasons, season one, season two, season three and season six of SCTV be released on DVD. In my surfing on the web of forums and message boards, this is one of the main disappointments about the series on DVD, apart from the sad situation with music clearances.
It is my hope and I believe the hope of many, that SCTV will eventually have resolved all of the music clearance issues associated with the series and that the series will someday be released complete and uncut on DVD.
As one of many SCTV fans, I would love to acquire the complete series of SCTV on DVD.
Thank you for your time and energy. Best regards,
SCTV Fan

Dear Sir/Madam:
As a fan of the Classic Canadian television series SCTV, I just want say how happy I was that SCTV was finally being released on DVD. I was finally going to be able to watch SCTV on DVD complete and uncut. Little did I know that the series was going to be musically edited.
I am writing to ask you to consider re-releasing all of Seasons Four and Five of SCTV Network, some time in the future. As a fan of SCTV, I would like to see the show re-released without any of the music cuts and alterations to the programs that were made on the first DVD releases.
I was also very disappointed to learn that the next box set was going to be nothing but a best of collection. I think I speak for many SCTV fans when I say that we all had expected the entire series to be released on DVD. We are still asking for this and I am requesting it now.
Since its premiere in 1976, SCTV has become a landmark in Canadian Comedy and indeed, to comedy lovers throughout the world. I do understand that the situation is grim and that copyright holders have several reasons for denying the use of their music on SCTV.
I also understand that the music used on the show SCTV was not cleared when the show was actually being produced. It seems sad to me that many of the copyright holders will not negotiate a deal with the show on that basis. Although SCTV did not clear the music originally, there is no reason in the world not to strike a deal now. For me and many SCTV fans, this is a threat to the legacy of SCTV and its future.
I would appreciate it if you would pass on to the copyright holders that we as fans of SCTV want them to know that allowing the use of their music on the SCTV DVD's is positive, profitable and worthwhile. Not only do they get extra exposure to a whole new group of people who may have never heard their music before, but they will show just how in touch they are with the public. We as fans also want them to know that we will never forget this gracious gesture and that it will have a positive impact on their legacy in the entertainment industry.
As one of those many fans, I know that I would love to acquire a collection of complete and uncut SCTV DVDs.
Thank you for your time and energy.
Best regards,
SCTV Fan
